This is the best location for a quiet tan or swim. The beach is very spacious, almost endless, and there are almost always no more people than the fingers on your hands. Almost nobody goes, and you wonder to yourself why it's been a secret for so long. The only negative is that there are flat, but not dangerous, rocks on the shore. Other than that, it's a beautiful and discreet beach; an escape from the tourists; that's your little secret.
At the beach, there are always a variety of activities to do. Sit quietly and enjoy the elements of nature, read a book or take a snooze. Of course, sun screen is recommended. Do keep an eye on your parking meter because a ticket will cost you!
lived in south florida 35 years, 5 years in loud crazy South beach, this is 5 minutes away from my house, during the week, i come drink my coffee at sunrise, the entire Atlantic Ocean for my self, clean safe, and quiet....bring quarters and credit cards, no bills, no charge before 8am, the negative review about tickets, is so ridiculous, just pay your parking, no one is watching anything, I gladly pay for it, to enjoy a beach like no other in South Florida....great place to collect lots of shells too, huge mature trees, with benches and grills, wins for children, tennis and more, life guard present during open to the public hours..
they have people watching the clock to ticket you in one minute after the free park sign expires, and the free park is only for people who play tennis... this must change and they must have some other amenities if they want to charge 60 ticket -- Did not like to see an officer seating there for hours waiting for the meter to pass.
This is a great option to avoid the crowds of Lake Worth beach or the more northern Palm Beach beaches. Yes parking isn't cheap and must be carefully watched to avoid tickets. But it's a lovely place. The shore here is a mix between rocky and sandy beach. It's a great place to bring mask and look for at fish.
Great spot for the beach but beware of the parking. You have to,pay and they ticket you right away. So make sure you do and you will enjoy the beach!! No food so bring your own
Very nice beach. Some rocks close to shore but nice views and very near deserted. There is a fee for parking.
This is a well run welcoming place. The tennis offers many options, including mixers for people looking to play doubles with others.
There is little sand left on portions of the beach, and most of the entrances are closed since the stairs are gone.Lake Worth beach (1 mi south) is still ok.
Great amenities, picnic benches and spacious parking lot, all adds up to a great day out at the beach. There is easy access to the beach at a point at which I understand there is a lifeguard. Necessary given the unpredictable rip currents in this area.
We do love this beach park for a picnic. There is always convenient parking, maybe because of its fairly hefty parking fee, but worth it if you want a less crowded beach. The park is lovely, with great old trees, barbecue pits, and plenty of shade. This part of the beach is quite rocky, though, so be sure to bring beach shoes.
We have been going to Phipps Beach for years. It is a quiet, peaceful place to sit in your beach chair and enjoy the ocean.
This is a great beach to visit, especially if you go earlier in the day (around 10:00am) because there is barely anyone else there. They also have free parking at the back of the parking lot (free for 2 hours between the hours of 8am and noon). Lifeguards are super friendly too! The rocks that someone else posted about are there, but there is still plenty of beach without them. They are great if you want to snorkel and look at all kinds of fish around them too! We love it!
It's pretty clear that Palm Beach does not want "outsiders" visiting their shores. This is one of the two municipal beaches in this locale. One doesn't even have public restrooms. Phipps has restrooms and lifeguards, so that's good. But when you get there you'll see the markings of a place that Palm Beach ignores when it comes to grooming and maintenance. Just about anywhere else in Palm Beach you'll find impeccable cleanliness, grooming, roads, landscaping, and services. But here you'll find DANGEROUS stairs to and from the beach - DANGEROUS because (1) the narrow wooden steps are COVERED in up to 8 inches of uneven sand, step after step is very uneven like walking on uneven and moving/sliding surface that is layered on a staircase, and a very very steep staircase at that. The bottom step is nearly two feet from sand, so you have to jump or throw or fall down. Oh, and getting up is an issue for kids or anyone carrying kids or beach bags and chairs, etc. Look at an aerial view and you will see this is the worse kept beach in Palm Beach. They chose the spot with the least favorable stretch of usable beach and sand, it is loaded with sharp DANGEROUS rocks. About one third is so laden with what looks like a sheet of giant jaggedy rock, so that you cannot walk from the sand to the water without walking to one and or the other of the beach. Also, it is clear form the aerail view that Palm Beach does less to offset sand erosion at this beach vs. all the beaches in front of private homes immediately north and south of it. Oh, and PARKING is $5 PER HOUR on meters. Crazy. Go to Lake Worth municipal instead. Cheaper and far NICER.
This is a great beach with loads of parking that is seldom crowded. Clean restrooms. Friendly helpful lifeguards
