During the Revolutionary war my paternal great, great, great . . . moved to the area. He and his son were in that war and later his son got into trouble with the powers that be by being too much in the middle of the Whiskey Rebellion. But the elder one was in the US Congress and the National Road was one of his pet projects. I guess today you'd say he was bringing the pork back to his home but the West at the time needed good transportation routes to get their goods to Eastern markets. That was what the Whiskey Rebellion was about, trying to figure a way to convert grain to something a Westerner could transport and sell.I had worked long distance with the Fayette County Historical Society on family related matters and was glad to see his exhibit.Great way to spend the day.

The Fayette County Historical Society is running/maintaining the toll house with donations and the tour guides are volunteers. Very historical building and just goes to show you that time is of the essence to restore and maintain our past.

I went to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater & Kentuck Knob homes. A must see. Visited Fort Necessity & the museum, also walked thru the Washington Inn-very interesting history. Went to see Ohiopyle Falls. Nice place to lay back & relax, restaurants across the road. A bit further away but worth the ride is the 9-11 Flight 93 Memorial. I didn't like that I didn't have more time to do more-there's so much around here.
