Susan LEven though I was under the weather I totally enjoyed my weekend away from home. Rose showed us some places that I had never been to before. I saw the mushroom houses which I didn't even to existed until that weekend and they totally blew me away. We also visited a vineyard and did some shopping alond with a number of other things. I've also been on her Xmas with the Amish tour and enjoyed it also. She tells you about the history and plays games with you on the bus. She puts a lot of hard work into her trips. And I'm planning on going on the Vera Bradley trip in April as well as some summer trips.
You will not go wrong with these wonderful day tours offered by Step on Bus Tours. I worked at a senior center and we scheduled many day trips with this company. The senior travelers loved these trips. Rose Szwed did a fabulous job with arranging exciting destinations, activities and the comfortable transportation. One of our favorite tours was the Amish Tour, that is packed with exciting activities, food, shopping and more.
These trips are just amazing. Rose brings such a passion to each tour she offers. She really takes care of everyone on the bus whether it's a bottle of water, a snack or DVDs related to the topic. She also custom makes tours for individual groups. She has a personal relationship with the Amish and takes people to little known places off the beaten track to glimpse into the Olde Order lifestyle. You will have such an amazing adventure.
Been going with Rose for a year and a half. We have has such varied experiences as dinner in Amish homes, shopping in their stores, touring stops of the Underground Railroad in Western Michigan, touring the Holland Festival, eating Polish food in Hamtramck, seeing paczki made, and visiting the Toledo Art Museum, the Edsel Ford House and various historic churches. I especially like our trip to Mexicantown with lunch and shopping. Her trips are educational and fun; when our venues are historic, she has done her homework boning us up on history. And she supplies snacks on the bus, and sometimes raffles. We have had a lot of laughs.....getting there is half the fun. And I don't have to drive!!!
Amish and Tulips tours with Rose Szwed were pure delight! Didn't have to worry about driving, parking and getting lost (I do often) and enjoyed the company of other tourists. Great information as we traveled and I even won a couple of bucks with Rose's on bus raffle. RECOMMEND.
I have been on three tours now and I love them! The Amish tours are probably the most popular of all the tours but for me it was the Edsel and Eleanor Ford mansion tour that really impressed me. The mansion is really the example of the life styles of the royalty of Detroit. I had no idea of the lavish lifestyle of the 1920's. Underground tunnels, garages with turntable parking so you never had to back out. The Lincoln cars of the 30's were unbelievable and what treasures they represent. But it was the art that caught my attention. Some of the figurines were over 2000 years old. The Ming vases and the Dutch master paintings fit in quite nicely with the Old wood flours from Europe. And where can find Silver counter tops like the ones in the kitchen? A true treasure of Detroit. After out tour of the mansion we moved on to Belle Isle where the Formula one race cars were qualifying against the back drop of the Detroit skyline. Then on to Grosse Pointe to the Christ Church antique show now in it's 29th year. What an afternoon
On April 10th I was lucky enough to go on the Vera Bradley Tour from Royal Oak down to Ft. Wayne for the Vera Bradley Annual Outlet Sale. This tour was absolutely fabulous because the tour leader Rose took great care of us throughout the whole trip. She made sure that we didn't have to wait at all. While people who drove in cars were waiting in lines, we didn't. A spokesperson from Vera Bradley jumped on our bus and explained how the sale worked, which was very helpful. As a group, we went into the building, past very long lines of people. We had our own room to use during the entire length of our sale time, which was very helpful. And, we didn't have to wait in long lines to pay. Rose checked out every single detail. The box lunch that was provided as part of the tour cost, was both filling and delicious. Lots of snacks and beverages were also provided. As if the Vera Bradley sale was not enough, we went to yet another shopping mall, where I scooped up a few more bargains. Tthe trip was well worth the $85 I spent because of the time savings which never would have happened if I drove myself. I loved it and have already for next year's Vera Bradley Tour with Step On Bus Tours. I would definitely recommend Rose's tours for folks looking for a unique and satisfying experience.
At the end of May, my grandmother and I went on Step on Bus Tours "Elegant Edsel Ford Tour." It was delightful. The tour guide, Rose is highly animated. She gives detailed, interesting information about each stop that we made on the tour. She made sure to greet and interact with all the people who were on the tour. It was better than I thought it would be. There is not a lot of walking involved, which benefited my grandmother and other elderly individuals. My grandmother is looking forward to going another tour with her. She was very pleased with the tour and Rose and thoroughly enjoyed herself. I would recommended going on these tours, it's great way to spend an afternoon that won't break your bank account.
