the discovery center

This would be a great place to take kids. They have a lot of different animals inside and downstairs is a room just for kids with activities and things for them to do.

We've been many times. The rangers are knowledgeable and friendly. The center is a great place to begin tours of the park. it's a beautiful view of the lake and one can often see wild life right off of the porch.

Our kids loved the center and all the live creatures...snakes, turtles, fish etc....it is very well done and they often have programs during the day. We did a tour with one of the staff who was very good at keeping the kids attention on the senses trail...took about 25 min. Center can be accessed by boat with free slip parking. We also fished off these docks and passed several rangers, never were questioned about fishing license...whew! In about an hour we caught on good side perch and then tossed him back. Beautiful building that sits on lake and has expansive shaded decks to enjoy the scenery. Our dog was welcome everywhere except inside of course :)

An okay educational place for young children. The staff there did not appear to be knowledgeable about the area when questions were posed. Hiking maps can be purchased there.
